Michael McKechnie is the Divisional Head for Digital Air Solutions at Samsung Electronics SA, a position he has held since June 2011.
In this role McKechnie is responsible for the strategic framework of, as well as the sales force and marketing for, both the retail and commercial markets within the Digital Air Solutions and LED Lighting space and is specifically focused at driving and maintaining a strong alignment to the Samsung Business brand.
In light of this role, McKechnie along with his team, are focused at driving business through retail and commercial channels in the aim of providing solutions based offering for the market as well as creating a more focused and solid market understanding of the product offering.
McKechnie has a wealth of experience not only in the air conditioning space, having previously filled the role of National Sales Manager at Daikin Air Conditioning, but also in Telecommunications and power solutions where he led a highly successful sales team at Panasonic for two years, up until 2008.
McKechnie’s previous telecommunications experience provides a strong platform for the understanding of the technology sector and certainly for the development of innovative business solutions, key to Samsung’s business model.
Furthermore, McKechnie has acquired strong business acumen and key skills that are highly beneficial to the Samsung Digital Air Solutions brand and of course, with his diverse knowledge around exports, relationship development, strategic marketing and sales planning and high-level management, not to mention his involvement in business across Southern Africa, he forms an integral part of the Samsung Electronics business development team.
McKechnie holds a Post Graduate Masters degree in Marketing from Oxford University as well as a BCOM (Hons) in Agriculture and an International Baccalaureate from the United World College of South East Asia.
